BIKES

It's the annual London to Brighton Bike Run today. It raises money for the British Heart Foundation.

In Brighton it's one of those days that the residents get frustrated trying to cross roads - the beach is full of picnicers and barbequers - all in lycra - and frequently looking very hot and red - at least they can cool off in the sea!!
I don't know how many take part , but they were arriving at 9am this morning - and its now 4pm and the flow of bikers is as strong as ever.

TELEVISION

Went to Steve's last night and had a few glasses of white. Whether it was the wine or the fact that I'm becoming a grumpy old man I'm not sure , but I watched TV. A game show called "Deal or no Deal" followed by "Big Brother" were on the menu. What do people watch this for?
I's not informative - it's not creative - why should anyone be interested in the petty details of a stranger's life? It was all worse than I expected so I've made myself another deal - Big Brother won't be invited into my home!

FIRST SUMMER PICNIC

It's very warm and sunny with a cooling sea breeze in Brighton. Perfect for the first picnic of the summer. Derek is coming down from London to join Steve and me for the day. The perfect camp affair - champagne and quiche in the regency gardens of the Royal Pavilion. This is a painting I did of the site a couple of years ago.

BELFAST

Going to Belfast to visit Mum and my sister for the weekend so will be away for a few days . Next post will be on Tuesday 6th June. Managed to get cheap flights from Gatwick to Belfast - at £40 return one wonders how long these flights will be available and at what cost to the environment we leap into the air at every opportunity. I still find 40 minutes and £20 per flight just too too attractive!!

THURSDAY 1st JUNE

A new month and a fairly busy day ahead.
Need to spend a few hours in the charity shop this morning and sort out enough stock to last for the next five days. I go to Belfast tomorrow for the weekend to visit family.
Bills to pay before I go and last minute travel plans to Gatwick to make.
